Much like Skata's recent work with Chikamorachi, there are moments on this album when the energy is so furiously intense it feels like it's going to spin out of control and take someone's eye out.
On the aptly named title track(which translates as "Storm"), he delivers wry alto phrases, as though from the corner of his mouth, before digressing into urgent flights of fancy, and finally launching into screaming, red-faced declamation- fuelled by Nilssen-Love's boiling pulse-time drums and the low bounce of Berthling's double bass. For "Ondo No Huna-Uta",Sakata switches to vocals,
a gurgling growl of a priest in the grip of possession by a bellicose demon. By the time he gets to "Fukushima No", he's turned to meek clarinet, offering contrite, almost reluctant phrases like he's apologising for his previous outbursts.[:]
